New specialist facilities to benefit students at Chantry Middle School
Students at Chantry Middle School and Newminster Middle School in Morpeth has been benefitting from a brand new £220,000 3G multi-use games area (MUGA).
School Business Manager Dominique Flint who led on the project said: “This major investment ensures both schools are fit for the future, with better facilities so that every student can have the best possible start in life. I’ve been involved with the project from the very beginning and I look forward to seeing students making the most of what will be a fantastic educational and community asset.”
The Chantry Middle School MUGA consists of a 45 x 30 square metre playing surface and was constructed in 12 weeks over the summer by local construction company Hellens Group. The facilities include a 3G playing surface with integral fencing and floodlighting, which was funded by the Three Rivers Learning Trust and a contribution from Sport England. The facility is for use by students as part of their practical lessons and by others in their extra-curricular activities, as well as by the community and sports clubs. The new facility means that the community has access to a pitch every season, regardless of the weather.
Headteacher Bryan Stewart said: “The development of a state of the art 3G pitch will give Chantry one of the best all-weather facilities at a school in the region. It will have enormous benefits for all students who will have access to this excellent facility for their practical lessons as well as huge benefit for the wider community.”
Full or half pitches are available, with a mini football pitch or 5/6-a-side pitches also up for grabs. With free on-site parking, it’ll be a great place to make your club’s home!
Prices start at just £25 per hour. You can contact Chantry to secure a booking now by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 01670 512 874.
