Background

The Three Rivers Learning Trust was established in 2011 and consists of a single high school, The King Edward VI High School and two feeder middle schools, Newminster and Chantry. Abbeyfields First School joined the Trust in May 2017. These schools have a long and proud history of providing an excellent education service to the local population.

The Learning Trust also has an alliance agreement with the Dr Thomlinson C of E Middle School in Rothbury to enable collaboration on the curriculum and continuing professional development of staff. This enables the smooth transition of students from Rothbury to KEVI. The Learning Trust is managed by a single Board of Directors to ensure the integration of educational provision for students between 9 and 19.

We are seen locally as a centre of educational excellence and we work to support a number of local schools. This is rewarding work and we recognise the mutual benefits to our Learning Trust through reciprocal staff development opportunities, training events, and the generation of new ways of working through system leadership. In 2015 we formed The Three Rivers Learning Trust Teaching School Alliance, led by The King Edward VI School. The TSA leads school improvement, teacher training and professional learning within and beyond our alliance, and we have in place the infrastructure, strong leadership and the resources to deliver the dramatic cultural change needed to transform provision and make a significant impact on educational outcomes.
